We begin with a thorough consultation to check that your teeth and gums are in optimal health and suitable for veneer treatment. We take accurate digital impressions to create a model of your teeth and design your new veneers. We can even show you a preview of your new smile!
Once you are completely happy with the design, we gently prepare your teeth by removing a tiny layer of enamel if necessary. We fit temporary veneers to keep your prepared teeth protected while your veneers are being made.
When your bespoke dental veneers are ready, we see you in the practice for your fitting appointment. We check the shape, colour and fit of your veneers and make sure they look and feel as you expected before bonding them securely into place.
Treat your veneers just like natural teeth, and look after them by brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste and flossing carefully. Regular visits to your dentist and hygienist are important to ensure the underlying teeth and surrounding gums stay healthy and strong.
While porcelain veneers are remarkably strong, they can chip under excessive force. Avoid biting your nails, chewing on ice or pen tops, and using your teeth as tools to open packaging. If your veneers do get damaged, please contact your dentist for advice.
In many cases, fitting porcelain veneers requires some of your natural tooth enamel to be removed. Therefore, they are an irreversible treatment, designed to be kept on your teeth permanently.
With proper care, your veneers can last up to 10-15 years before they may need replacing.
The procedure is completely comfortable as we use local anaesthetic during the preparation and fitting stages to ensure you feel no pain. You may experience mild sensitivity for a few days post-treatment, but this quickly resolves.
